Unit 1- At School
| group | A number of persons or things. |
| school | The place where we learn. |
| country | A land where a group of people live. |
| flag | A symbol that stands for a country. |
| rule | Something that tells us what do and what not to do. |
Unit 2 - In My Neighborhood
| neighborhood | A place where people live, work and play. |
| community | A group of people and the place where they live. |
| law | A rule that people must obey. |
| leader | Someone who helps people decide what to do. |
| state | A part of a country. |
| continent | A large piece of land. |
| ocean | A very large body of salt water |
Unit 3 - Work, Work, Work
| job | the work people do |
| needs | things we must have to live |
| wants | things we would like to have |
| tools | things people use to help them do work |
| goods | things that are grown or made |
| service | a job people do to help others |
| volunteer | a person who works for free |
| transportation | things that move people and goods from place to place |
Unit 4 - Our Earth, Our Resources
| weather | how it is outside at a certain place and time |
| mountain | the highest kind of land |
| plain | a large piece of land that is mostly flat |
| lake | a body of water with land totally or almost totally around it |
| river | a long body of water that usually moves toward a lake or an ocean |
| natural resource | a useful thing that comes from nature |
| history | telling the story of people and places from the past |
